Growing up in a really small village in eastern Germany (in Saxony), Alicia decided to start a training as a biology laboratory technician after school because studying was never an option for her. In order to free herself from the negativity in her hometown, she moved to Karlsruhe in 2017. She completed her three-year training at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) at the Institute of Toxicology and Genetics (ITG) in 2020. After her training, she stayed at the Institute for Biological and Chemical Systems (IBCS) in the Department of Biological Information Processing (formerly ITG) for 3 long years. During this time she worked a lot with medaka fish. In February 2024 she switched to the Hilbert laboratory (also at the IBCS-BIP) and now works as a biology laboratory assistant with zebrafish. Alicia has spent her working life so far at one single institute at the KIT. There is no change in sight.
For relaxing after work, she loves watching anime, especially One Piece, and listening to Kpop. For those of you who don’t know, it’s Korean pop music.
