David grew up in Emmendingen near Freiburg. During his school years he only had one area of interest – biology. During his BSc in biology at KIT with Sylvia Erhardt he gained a lot of experience with microscopy and independent work and realized that pure wet lab work was not for him. Shortly after his bachelor’s degree he started a medical informatics student assistant position, which fueled his interest in bioinformatics. That’s why he came across Lennart because he combines computer science and biology.
