Maria has Greek roots but grew up in a small town near Mannheim. She started her scientific journey with a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Chemistry at the University of Applied Sciences Mannheim, which ignited her love for research. Seeking new challenges, she then pursued a Master’s degree in Karlsruhe and fell head over heels for biology. Her current Master’s project involves studying transcription control by phase-separating RNA-binding proteins. When Maria’s not doing science, she loves to whip up sweet treats in the kitchen, keep up with the high-speed world of Formula 1 racing and explore her creative side through photography.
