Maria was born and raised in Karlsruhe, where she also attended school before continuing her studies at KIT. She completed her bachelor’s degree in neurobiology and decided to stay for her master’s. Enjoying working with fluorescent microscopy, she’s happy to apply this method in her research as she works with Mona on exploring the structural organization of gene activation during cell differentiation, using fluorescent labeling and imaging.Outside the lab, Maria enjoys hiking with her dog, Winston, often exploring scenic trails that lead to old castles. She also loves visiting museums, especially those with dinosaur exhibits because her fascination with prehistoric creatures never went extinct.
