Growing up in a rural town in southern Germany in an international family, Fabian acquired a strong interest in technical things and languages from his parents. He realized soon that the things themselves might be different across the globe, but the mechanisms are often the same. Taking his grand revelation to its conclusion, he ventured out into the world to study the art of generalization by model, physics. He got as far as KIT, Karlsruhe. After going to a summer school at EMBL ignited his passion for biology, he focused his physics master’s on condensed matter theory and biophysics. Now, he’s studying the world’s first and probably best nanomachines, life. Slightly more specifically, he’s studying nuclear biomolecular condensates using molecular dynamics simulations at Hilbert Lab for a master’s thesis.
